Old Town Tour
A short but impressive introduction to Salzburg's most famous old town sights. Suitable for guests with little time, older people or couples who want a compact overview.
Our rickshaw tour through Salzburg’s old town offers you the ideal introduction to get to know the city comfortably and thoroughly.
Within about 40 minutes, you will experience the most important sights of Salzburg’s old town on a private city tour. Thanks to our flexible schedule, we also have time to make small photo stops or answer questions in more detail.
That’s why we plan up to an hour for your tour as a precaution.
Either way, you will experience the heart of Salzburg up close and get a compact crash course in city history, culture and local secrets.
The tour usually starts at Residenzplatz, the historical center of Salzburg, where rickshaw tours had their fixed location for years. We still like to start here, as the Residenzplatz is ideal for setting up and storytelling our tour.
Of course, we can also meet flexibly at another location.
Which Sights Do We Explore on this Salzburg Tour?
From Residenzplatz, our route leads through the Alter Markt, home of the original Fürst Mozartkugel and the Tomaselli, Salzburg’s oldest café, past the atmospheric Ritzerbogen to Universitätsplatz with its impressive baroque Universitätskirche.
Along the historic Pferdeschwemme and the world-famous Festspielhaus, you will learn how this place was used before the founding of the Salzburger Festspiele.
An optional highlight of your private old town tour is the walk through the famous cemetery of the monastery Sankt Peter, Salzburg’s birthplace.
While you walk through this special place, your driver will wait on the other side at Kapitelplatz to pick you up comfortably from there.
Then we roll on to the magnificent Salzburger Dom, the heart of baroque Salzburg.
Afterwards, we discover the most important places around the imposing Salzburg Cathedral: Kapitelplatz, Domplatz, the lively Kaiviertel and finally the Mozartplatz, where you will learn more highlights from Mozart’s life.
Our tour usually ends here, but of course we can set the end point individually.
Why Do our Guests Love the Old Town Tour?
Guests are always amazed at how compact and versatile the old town tour is. On foot, you would easily need 1.5-2 hours for these highlights, but thanks to our private city tour you see everything comfortably and quickly. Although the tour is significantly shorter than a classic city tour, you will learn everything important about Salzburg’s history, architecture and local features in this time.
Since we tell stories while rolling, we get everywhere quickly and in the same depth, for which you otherwise need twice the time on foot. At the same time, you get closer to the sights than on any bus tour.
Our drivers will tell you stories and anecdotes that are unknown even to many locals.
This tour is ideal for first-time visitors, history buffs and anyone who just wants to get to know Salzburg in a compact way. And if you have a dog with you, this tour is particularly suitable because it has a pleasant length.
